Rapidly rising to become one of the most unique live instrumental DJ acts in the world, 25-year-old Olivia Dawn from Hong Kong is revolutionizing the industry with fluid violin improvisations and husky vocals over her dreamy deep house/techno sets.
A Juilliard bachelor and Berklee double-master graduate in classical violin, contemporary performance and music technology respectively, Olivia is passionate in the studio and no stranger to the stage. Her innovative electronic live act and violin-DJ sets have been featured at major events such as Tedx Berklee Valencia, Tedx Fenway, World Business Forum Madrid, Palo Alto Music Fest Barcelona, Roktoberfest Singapore and Clockenflap Music Festival.
As an up-and-coming festival live DJ act, Olivia has already opened for deep house/techno DJs Yokoo, Rampue and Jeremy Olander at Rewind and was featured as a solo violinist at the Daybreaker launch premiere in Hong Kong. She is set to open for Jonas Blue along with Hong Kong singer AGA this month and to headline at Babylon Festival in Australia in March 2018.
Highly demanded for her technical versatility on the violin and her sultry vocals, Olivia has collaborated with renowned artists from a stunning variety of genres ranging from classical, jazz and rock to bluegrass, arabic, deep house and techno. A budding songwriter and producer, she has sold original songs to Taiwanese vocal diva Elva Hsiao and Spanish pop sensation Julio Rizzi through Peermusic Spain. She is providing vocal topline for French deep house producer TIME and has recorded strings for EDM giant Mako, Jordanian violinist Yarub Smarait, bluegrass fiddler Casey Driessen, DJ/producer Nacho Marco, psytrap duo Zebbler Encanti Experience, Spanish indie band Lost Tapes and Latin Grammy award-winning producer Javier Limón.
Olivia’s latest projects include a deep house remix for Universal Music Hong Kong artist AGA’s latest hit single, “3AM”, as well as recording strings for techno rising star Eagles & Butterflies’ remix of ‘Phases’ by The Howling. They will be working on an electronic downtempo EP together. Olivia will also be producing remixes for Chinese concert pianist Chen Jie’s upcoming album and an indie electronic album with Belgian artist Alma Auer.
Olivia has just released a techno EP entitled “Everything Will Change” with up and coming Puerto Rican DJ Ian Cahill through Digital Den Records, and her debut solo single, Lions, co-produced with Eagles & Butterflies, will be released later this year as she looks forward to her first international festival bookings. She has recently accepted a new role as the face of music for the W Hong Kong where she will be curating music at major events and DJ-ing at W hotels across the world.
Aside from music, Olivia maintains a well-rounded knowledge and passion for fitness, food and fashion. She has collaborated with major brands and franchises such as Asia’s Next Top Model, Lane Crawford, M.A.C., Calvin Klein Performance, Zuma, Armani, XYZ and will be featured at the Tatler Annual Ball this year.
With her graceful charm, diverse background and a fluency in five languages, Olivia brings a fresh, unique, infectious energy to the stage that is felt by audiences near and far.
